The functional adult ego/self you is prepared to use the pre-frontal cortex and your two human brain cortexes (your left and right brain hemispheres) to evaluate what is happening in the moment from a place of compassion thanks to you knowing you are not in any physical life danger in the moment of exploring feelings and memory of an event. This and more is happening all in one go because you are tapped into your human consciousness, you are aware that you are experiencing the remembering, as well as feeling the emotions. With the body element in your peripheral view and the knowledge of how rhythmically breathing keeps your nervous system in a centered state, you move on to transcend the emotions of hurt from the aspects of danger from the past that you are recalling and in doing this begin “unwiring” the neuropathway – the memory with the hurt – and start “rewiring”(creating a new) neuropathway – the memory with your unconditional love and neutrality, with your safety feeling and knowledge of being in the present, with your choosing to expand how to re-evaluate the past or think of it, or whatever your inner exploration with memory and feelings is bringing about to lead you to your 5D self-empowered state.
