Inner Growth Word of the Day: Understanding
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1. a mental grasp. 2 a. the power of comprehending. 3 b. an agreement of opinion or feeling.
Understanding in a sentence: When there’s an understanding between you and you, everything becomes so much clearer.
Understanding in action: Something that makes sense to you is understanding.
Understanding and inner growth: A look at those things, thoughts, people that you have an understanding of and with allows for inner growth because it brings you to explore your thought process, mechanisms, and exploration of that which you don’t have an understanding of or with.
Understanding and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: What does it mean to me to have an understanding of something? How has understanding played a role in my life? When did understanding someone become something I focused on? In what ways does my understanding affect my relationships? When did I first explore understanding from the perspective of that which I don’t grasp? How do experience understanding when I feel different in that situation or with those people?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with understanding at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of a past, present and future scenario with understanding at the center of it. Write about all three and share some of the most important parts of these scenarios that came to mind.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about understanding and notice where your emotions start and where they go. If they settle in certain places more than others visualize them moving along and when you’re ready allow thoughts to come. Take note of what scenarios come to mind and how your emotions change.
