August 29

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Personal

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (adj.) 1. of, relating to, or affecting a particular person.  3. relating to the person or body.  5 a. being rational and self-conscious.  5 b. having the qualities of a person rather than a thing or abstraction.

Personal in a sentence: The personal choices you make in life affect your everyday and your inner harmony.

Personal in action: When you decide something based on your person, your preferences, your thoughts, your beliefs, and so on; that is personal.

Personal and inner growth: Exploring the personal choices and decisions you make give you lots to look at with the actions you take and are taking to pursue your life in a way that you feel is in tune with you.  This type of exploration allows for questions and answers that dig deep and in doing so promote inner growth.

Personal and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What type of personal choices affect me the most? How have my personal choices affected my life?  When was the first time I made a personal choice that I contemplated?  Why is something personal so important to me?  How have my personal decisions affected my relationships?  If I had to pick one personal decision that made the biggest impact in my life so far, what would it be?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with personal at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From this list pick three words that stand out and then write about why they stand out by using the rest of the words from your list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about personal choices and decisions in life overall. As you do this take note of where your emotions start out and where they end up as they go through you.  If they seem to accumulate in certain places, visualize them redistributing evenly.  When you’re ready allow thoughts of personal decisions made that have affected your life and see what feelings arise, allowing your emotions to tell you more about those decisions.
