Inner Growth Word of the Day: Apply
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (v.) 1 b. to bring into action. 1 d. to put into operation or effect.
Apply in a sentence: What you apply in your life is up to you and what you want to achieve and/or pursue.
Apply in action: When you put in effort to get something done that is to apply one’s self.
Apply and inner growth: The things you apply in your life are all indicators of things that are important to you and that you are looking to have in your life. Exploring them allows for inner growth because it brings you to acknowledge that which you are applying yourself to and change this if you don’t feel it’s fully in tune with you.
Apply and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: What do I apply myself to in life? How does my applying effort to relationships affect me? When was the first time I applied myself to get something I wanted? How does it feel to me to apply myself to a situation? When applying a thought process how do I go about it?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with apply at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. With this list think of one of the most important times that you applied yourself to something and the outcome seemed bad at first, but later on turned out to be a positive for you. Write about this situation and use the words you listed to describe how you felt about the situation as it was happening.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about when you apply yourself to something and notice where those feelings start out, as well as where they go. If they seem to stop in specific areas of your body, visualize them continuing on the same way water flows down a stream. When you’re ready, think about something that you applied yourself to, which brought about a positive impact to your relationships. Take note of how your feelings change and write about the differences.
