Inner Growth Word of the Day: Group
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 2 a. a number of individuals assembled together or having some unifying relationship.
Group in a sentence: Being a part of a group or having a group mentality is something that starts with family.
Group in action: When people who share a common interest come together that is a group.
Group and inner growth: A look at how you approach a group mentality and the groups you’ve created in time can share insights into individual characteristics and values that you may share with others. It can also help you identify those characteristics about yourself that come out in a group setting. This awareness you gain as you contemplate such things furthers your inner growth because you get to know yourself more through those groups and you can also work on things you may want to transform.
Group and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: What is my idea of a group? How have groups affected my life? When was the first time I felt part of a group? What is something important about being a part of a group that stands out to me? Why do I value my groups? What do I see when I think about my group mentality? How have the groups I’m a part of affected my relationships?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with group at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of one group that all the words combined make you think of. Then write about this group and what impact it has made in your life.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about group and allow your feelings to flow freely, but without thinking. Notice if your emotions originate from one specific area of your body and what areas those feelings seem to navigate towards. As you do this visualize those emotions flowing throughout your entire body and when you’re ready allow thoughts to come in of specific things you’ve done with groups that are present in your life.
