Inner Growth Word of the Day: Perfection


Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1. the quality or state of being perfect (flawless).  2 a. an exemplification of supreme excellence.  2 b. an unsurpassable degree of accuracy or excellence.


Perfection in a sentence: Perfection is something attainable even in the presence of imperfection, it is all in the eye of the beholder.


Perfection in action: Something that excels in quality or is seen as flawless is perfection.


Perfection and inner growth: Your view and emotional response to perfection can all indicate something deeper about your idea of excellence and something good in your life.  Exploring these aspects allows you to uncover these deeper meanings, which also brings you to change something or accept something as perfect just the way it is.  This type of contemplation and awareness lead to inner growth due to that which you uncover and the steps you take to ensure you’re always on a path that leads to inner peace and joy.


Perfection and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How do I feel about perfection? When did I first notice perfection in my life?  What is most important about perfection to me?  How does perfection play a role in my relationships?  What stands out the most about perfection in my life?  How does perfection affect my life?  What are some of the lessons I’ve learned thanks to perfection?


  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with perfection at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From the list pick one or two words that affect you the most.  Now think of an event that represents that word and where perfection was present or absent.  Write about this event with the rest of the words from your first list.


  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about perfection and allow them to flow freely as you sit in silence for a bit. Notice where your emotions stem from and where they seem to go most.  Also see if there are any feelings that stand out more than the others.  As you do this, allow thoughts to come to mind and focus on the thought that stands out the most.  Allow your feelings to tell you more about this thought.
