Inner Growth Word of the Day: Missing

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (adj.) absent or lost.

Missing in a sentence: When you feel like something is missing, it brings about times of thought.

Missing in action: An absence of something in your life or within you is something missing.

Missing and inner growth: When there is an absence within one’s life this can’t go unnoticed indefinitely, so at a certain point exploration comes about to understand what this absence means, why is it there or if it’s something concrete, what actions one can take to resolve the absence.  All of these actions bring about inner growth through you finding what you’re missing, even if that finding is arriving at the conclusion that nothing is missing.

Missing and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What does missing mean to me? How does it feel to have something missing?  What have I learned from missing something?  When was the first time I felt like something was missing in my life?  What actions do I take when I find out that something is missing, but I can resolve this by doing something about it?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with missing at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. With this list take three words that stand out to you and from those three words write one word that represents how these three words make you feel.  From the one word, think of an incident where something was missing and write about this incident using the words from your first list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about missing something and let them flow throughout you.  As you feel these emotions notice where they are coming from and where they go or seem to focus in your body.  When you’re ready try to visualize a warm feeling of comfort come about and embrace all those feelings, then release those accumulated areas where your emotions seem to be focusing around.  When you’re ready also allow thoughts to come in and focus on the first thing that comes to mind, allowing those feelings to speak to you.
