Inner Growth Word of The Day 52 – Right

February 21

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Right

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1. qualities (such as adherence to duty or obedience to lawful authority) that together constitute the ideal of moral propriety or merit moral approval.  4. the cause of truth or justice.  6 a. the true account or correct interpretation.  6 b. the quality or state of being factually correct.

Right in a sentence: Sometimes people get caught up in what they believe to be right when having conversations and this leads away from an open dialogue (which is based on sharing not defining).

Right in action: Things that are a part of life, such as thoughts or actions or decisions are grouped with qualities that categorize them as truths, morally approved, or correct interpretations; making them right according to those who define the qualities.

Right and inner growth: The idea of right is something that gets you to look inside when you decide to dive deep into why you label something right or not.  You also realize how open or not you are to life and experiences when you explore your relationship with right.

Right and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What importance does being right have to me? What role does being right play in my everyday life?  Does being right affect my relationships and if so how?  What have I learned from thinking about things with the idea that they are right or wrong?  Is there only one right way for me when it comes to how I view life and people?  Who decides what’s right?  How do I decide what’s right?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with right at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Next list words that describe your feelings about right and what this means to you.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about right and pay close attention to thoughts that come to mind, but without obstructing how you feel. As you allow your feelings to flow, notice if there is a theme in the thoughts you have.

Your turn – Share your right sentence, life examples, and inner growth action steps; and let me know if you’d like to see something added to our Inner Growth Word of The Day explorations 🙂
