Inner Growth Word of The Day 40 – Unity

February 9

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Unity

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 2 a. a condition of harmony: accord.  2 b. continuity without deviation or change (as in purpose or action).

Unity in a sentence: Unity with one’s self doesn’t always come so easily.

Unity in action: When one’s purpose and actions come together and continuously flow, unity is present.

Unity and inner growth: Exploring what within you is not in unity can lead to resolving internal separateness and disconnect, which leads to inner growth by resolving what is keeping you at odds with yourself.

Unity and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: Do I find unity is present within me? Is this the case with every aspect of my thoughts, beliefs, and actions?  What about unity with others?  In what way does this take place?  How has unity helped me to understand myself so far?  What is one of the most challenging things with unity?  Do I think unity exists within one’s self?  How about unity with others?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with unity at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Now do the same thing, but this time write words that come to mind associated with your inner unity.  Next, with the words from both lists write whatever comes to mind (it can be a fictional story or a specific incident in your life, or an inner growth goal you want to reach, etc.).

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about unity and let them flow, visualizing those feelings as united and therefore cycling uninterruptedly. With that picture in mind, focus on what you’re feeling, is it joy, doubt, confusion, clarity?  Remove any thoughts, just feel the feelings and if anything stands out, take note of it and come back to it when you’re done with this first part of the exercise.

Your turn – Share your unity sentence, life examples, and inner growth action steps; and let me know if you’d like to see something added to our Inner Growth Word of The Day explorations 🙂
