February 6

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Insight

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1. the power or act of seeing into a situation: penetration.  2. the act or result of apprehending the inner nature of things or of seeing intuitively.

Insight in a sentence: Life experiences bring insight on various things including human behavior.

Insight in action: When we go through a sequence of events, we gain insight into those events at an in-depth level.

Insight and inner growth: Insight into things, also means we can gain insight into ourselves, which consequently allows us to take steps to further our inner growth.

Insight and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What insight do I have about myself and how did I gain them? How has insight helped me in life?  Has insight played an important role in my relationships?  In what ways have I used insight to improve my level of happiness?  Do I think insight is valuable in life?  Do I think insight is limited in any way?  If so, in what way?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with insight at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Next to each word you listed attribute a life experience that correlates to that word for you and the insight you gained through that life experience.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about insight and as you do this, think of at least five situations that have brought insight your way that has led to inner growth. Notice what types of feelings go by and if any of them stand out, write them down and further explore them one by one.

Your turn – Share your insight sentence, life examples, and inner growth action steps; and let me know if you’d like to see something added to our Inner Growth Word of The Day explorations 🙂
