Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Tuning Out The External

Tune in to the Inspiring Human Potential podcast on Anchor to hear more on the topic 😊

When it comes to tuning out the external, it comes with its set of layers and depths, as all things when pursuing inner growth to express and grow the potential you are.

When you receive external inputs, inner growth gets you to tune in within and check if those inputs are a match to what your inner core tells you is your truth.  As you get to know who you are from the heart, you get to hear your inner core’s voice clearly; this enables you to tune out the external without discrediting or disregarding it (the insights others share with you, which you learn to cherish for the knowledge of the world you gain from them).

Here are some ways to tune out the external and continue pursuing inner growth as you look to unlock the full potential you hold within and that is dying to come forward in your life.

  1. When you notice yourself getting agitated because of advice or inputs others give you on an important topic for you (personal, work related, family, political, religious, life choices, etc.) take five minutes to write down two to five things you believe are true about the topic. As you focus on your list, write two reasons why the external inputs hit a nerve, but also two reasons why this isn’t true to you.

  1. Every time you seek out external inputs to make decisions, write three reasons why you are seeking outside information. Take notice of what commonalities are a part of the reasons you go to others for answers that you hold in your heart and see how you can find ways to bring your inner core forward in those moments so that you may hear it a bit louder when you need it.

  1. Once a year you want to take some time to review those external input moments where you completely lost your cool (so to speak). Focus on how these moments of “enough is enough”, helped you decide to focus more on your inner core, your inner self and heart’s messages versus continuing to put other people’s inner core’s messages first.

Your turn – Share your inner growth thought of the day, a sentence, life examples, or action steps you take with new beginnings 😊
