Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Making The Best Of Assumptions
When you make assumptions, they can limit what you see, what you get, and what you communicate to others. It is through awareness of your assumptions that you may make the best of them by learning about you from what you assume and making a conscious choice of whether or not you should put them out there versus contemplating them and allowing life to unfold.
Through inner growth you take the time to explore and become aware in the moment of the assumptions you make, why you make them, and so on. As you gain this inner core knowledge, you also learn to manage, understand, and neutralize assumptions made by others that apply to you. This journey keeps you open to learning, using your assumptions to benefit situations, but not limit them.
Here are some ways to approach assumptions with inner growth in mind so that you can make the best of them.
- Every time you make an assumption write down why you made it and how it affected the situation, and how it could have affected the situation had you not made the assumption.
- Write two ways you’ve noticed your assumptions limit what you expect and do. Next decide two ways you’re going to remove the limits by managing your assumptions in the moment.
- Describe how it feels when others make assumptions about you that are limiting and untrue. Keep this knowledge in mind every time you make an assumption about somebody else and decide one way you’re going to hold off making assumptions that affect others in a limiting way.
Your turn – Share your inner growth thought of the day, a sentence, life examples, or action steps you take with new beginnings 😊
