Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Dealing With Unexpected Surprises
Unexpected surprises are taken well when wanted or inclined to resonate with something desired, but when the opposite is the case there are different ways you are affected that can take away from you, instead of add to you and your day.
As you pursue inner growth you start learning from these moments and gaining insights to you, but also to the choices you have in transforming an unexpected surprise to something that doesn’t take away from you at all.
Transformation to render the unexpected surprise an inner growth experience requires time and testing to see what works for you. Here are some ways that can help.
- When an unexpected surprise takes place make a quick note about the unexpected surprise and two feelings that came to be. As soon as you have five minutes, think about the event and feelings; and notice, in time, the common feelings that arise associated with what types of unexpected surprises.
- Take five minutes a day to think of a recent unexpected surprise that added to your day and another that took away from it. If you look closely, what can you say you learned about yourself thanks to both events that you wouldn’t have otherwise learned.
- In one word describe what you think about unexpected surprises. Once a year, add a word to your list and notice what feelings those words bring about. As time passes, notice what feelings are dominating in your list and how this affects your potential throughout the year.
Your turn – Share your inner growth thought of the day, a sentence, life examples, or action steps you take with new beginnings 😊
