Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Being Stuck In Your Ways & Inner Growth
Being stuck in your ways can benefit inner growth when those “ways” are things that feel in tune with your core for your long-term inner peace, harmony, and love.
It is when you notice feelings of resistance, fear or uneasiness in your “being stuck in your ways” that you want to explore what’s going on so that you may work with yourself to gain insights on what’s closing you off.
Here are some ways to explore your “being stuck in your ways” with inner growth in mind.
- When you notice patterns that you are not likely to deviate from, ask yourself why and notice what feelings arise. Any feelings that are opposite of a sense of security, peace, and comfort; you want to explore further and uncover more behind the reason for that pattern.
- Make a list of things you know you are choosing to stick to because they work for you from the heart and next to each list one thing you know you stick to because you don’t want to take risks. Notice the difference in how you feel about each group to help you know in the moment when you are avoiding something due to uncertainty and/or fear.
- Every year review what risks you were willing to take and the ones you weren’t and ask yourself if you’re happy with those choices. Pay close attention to your emotions as you answer and if you notice any disappointment evaluate why and what you can do to change that for you in the next year.
