Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Dealing With Uncomfortable & Difficult Emotions
Every person has their way to deal with uncomfortable and difficult emotions; and often part of the process involves a bit of alone time to contemplate and work through those emotions.
It is in these moments that going within and uncovering your thoughts and reasons help you to work through what you’re feeling, as well as lighten the load thanks to the redirected focus on answers instead of the weight of the feeling per se.
Here are some ways to help you deal with these deep emotional moments to help you get through the rough patch and continue your inner growth journey.
- Make a mental note of at least two moments you’ve lived that brought about the most ecstatic, loving, and safe feeling. When you’re going through a tough emotional moment, bring these two moments and the feelings that accompany them to mind and heart.
- In your alone time through a rough patch, make a list of the amazing things that are a part of your life and that you’re grateful for. Next list three things you can do to help you work through the emotions and set out to do them.
- If you catch yourself being hard on yourself as you feel the emotional turmoil around you, remind yourself that your mindset is what will make the difference in the depths and outcome of this moment. Then define what your mindset is and how it is helping you in this moment.
