Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Getting Outside Your Head
Sometimes the thoughts that cross your mind can seem like they’re too much; and you get that feeling of wanting to get outside of your head. The best way to approach this is to stop thinking you’re thinking too much and that you’re inside your head. This first step is important because you want to redirect your focus from the weight and judgement you’re directing at yourself (and thoughts) to seeing the process that is taking place thanks to your thinking.
Thinking things through means there’s something about a situation or topic that you haven’t quite pinned down yet; therefore your inner self wants to know, it’s searching for an answer that makes sense all around.
Here are some ways to get outside your head and add to your inner growth journey.
- Make a list of all the times you’ve told yourself to get outside of your head and next to each item write down when and why you were able to move forward following your thinking.
- Make a list of the consistent characteristics that are a part of you being able to move forward when you think of all the times you’ve moved forward from something (finally “got outside of your head”).
- Identify the stages you go through when you are inside your head so that you become aware of all of them, but also this way you can work with yourself if you want to see changes in your thinking process.
