Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Assumptions & People

Tune in to the Inspiring Human Potential podcast on Anchor to hear more on the topic 😊

When we make assumptions there’s a closeness that happens, which takes away from your inner growth and the ability to learn more and truly listen to the person and/or situation you are making assumptions about.

In order to look within and pursue a path of growth and knowledge, it is necessary to become aware of where your assumptions lead to close-mindedness and judgement towards others, which is what removes you from that inner growth learning mindset.

Here are some ways to work with yourself so that you may learn from your assumptions and not take away from your day to day learning opportunities.

  1. Any assumption you make, review it and ask yourself why you are making this assumption. How does it affect your life? How does it affect the person or situation? And any other questions that get you to look within on why this assumption has come about.

  1. When you become aware of your assumption in a situation or towards a person put it aside and try to take a neutral stance in the moment so that you may open up your mind to simply absorbing, listening, observing.

  1. Over time, make a list of the common characteristics of assumptions you make about people (whether you know them or not) and ask yourself what the common characteristics say about your view of the world and people; and are you happy with that view.

Your turn – Share your inner growth thought of the day, a sentence, life examples, or action steps you take with new beginnings 😊
