Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Every Day Is A Choice
When you think about your day and how it goes, the realization that you can choose how it goes and how it feels isn’t always at the forefront of your thoughts. This is due to an initial reaction of thoughts and feelings around the things that happen. However, once this choice is brought to your attention that changes depending on the next steps you decide to make.
Although you can’t change what happens, if you make a conscious choice to stay neutral in the moment and focus on what you can do in a specific situation you are able to completely change how whatever is brought your way feels and what you gain from it, as well as where you head to next with that situation.
Your day to day choices on your feelings and focus enable you to stay open in the moment and find solutions versus entering a vicious cycle of pointing fingers and frustration. Here are some ways you can do this.
- Whenever a contrasting situation is presented to you through people, situations or thoughts take a step back to think about what you’re feeling and bring yourself to a place of calm.
- As you gain your neutral position in a moment of conflict, focus your attention on you and your options. Every time you deviate your attention to someone or something else, bring that attention back to what you can do.
- Accepting what you can’t change and how you can work with you to improve that contrasting moment for you is something you want to explore with yourself every time you’re presented with a challenge.
