Inner Growth Word of the Day: Sluggish
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (adj.) 1. averse to activity or exertion. 2. slow to respond. 3 a. markedly slow in movement, flow, or growth.
Sluggish in a sentence: Sometimes when you’re sluggish it’s just an off day; but other times, it’s worth going a bit more in-depth to find the hidden meaning behind it.
Sluggish in action: When you are a bit low on energy and movement, moral included, that is sluggish.
Sluggish and inner growth: Taking a closer look at sluggish days brought about by life circumstances pursues inner growth because it gets you to have those tough conversations with yourself so that you may know what’s going on and take your next steps.
Sluggish and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: Why do I get sluggish? Do I get sluggish in specific situations? How does being sluggish affect my life? What takeaways do sluggish days give me about me? When did I first use the word sluggish? Who do I go to on my sluggish days for a talk? How have sluggish days affected my relationships? When was the last time I felt sluggish?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with sluggish at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of the last sluggish feeling and day you’ve had and write about it with the words from your list.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about being sluggish and having sluggish days, and notice the first feeling that comes up. Focus on this initial feeling and its flow, notice if your emotions are evenly flowing or if some stay behind or are stronger in certain areas. When you’re ready visualize the emotions being on a river smoothly sailing towards the ocean. Then move on to the next feelings that stand out at you and do the same thing.
