Inner Growth Word of the Day: Ungrateful
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (adj.) 1. showing no gratitude.
Ungrateful in a sentence: Being ungrateful brings about a lack of appreciation towards the things that are a part of life and taking notice of when it happens helps you to reconsider those moments.
Ungrateful in action: When you don’t appreciate people or life’s gifts, that is being ungrateful.
Ungrateful and inner growth: Taking a look at when you’re ungrateful brings about inner growth because it gets you to reconsider your approach to things and reevaluate what you’re not paying attention to in the things life brings your way.
Ungrateful and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: What does ungrateful mean to me? When was the first time I noticed I was being ungrateful? What are some of my biggest takeaways from moments where I was ungrateful? How do I manage being ungrateful? Why do I get ungrateful when it happens? What do I tend to be ungrateful about? How has being ungrateful affected my relationships?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with ungrateful at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Now think of the biggest lesson you learned from being ungrateful and write about it using the words from your list.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about when you’re ungrateful and notice what types of emotions arise, how they flow and what specific moments and things in your life come to mind. Focus on one moment when you were ungrateful that stands out from the thoughts that cross your mind and notice what recurring emotions come about, as well as if there are different feelings that arise in addition to the recurring ones.
