Inner Growth Word of the Day: Wisdom
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1 a. accumulated philosophical or scientific learning. 1 b. ability to discern inner qualities and relationships. 1 c. good sense.
Wisdom in a sentence: Wisdom comes to us all at one time or another.
Wisdom in action: When good sense and learning are put into action in decision making moments, that is wisdom.
Wisdom and inner growth: Exploring the wisdom one holds brings inner growth through the awareness of lessons learned, thought processes acquired and the complete knowledge that learning is a constant, which keeps curiosity and the door open to growth.
Wisdom and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: When did I first notice my moments of wisdom? How do I define wisdom? Who has influenced the wisdom I hold? How has wisdom assisted me through the decision-making process? What impact has wisdom made on my relationships? How has wisdom changed my life? What long-term decisions has wisdom come to my aid on?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with wisdom at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From these words think of two moments, one past and one present, where your wisdom came to the rescue. Write about both events and how wisdom helped, how you felt after the fact, and what you learned from those events.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about wisdom as you sit in silence and tune in to the emotions that start arising as you think of this word and of events where your wisdom helped you. Notice what types of emotions are stirring up, how they flow, if they settle in certain places more than others throughout your body. When you’re ready visualize a flowing river so that you may allow those feelings to flow like a river does towards the sea.
