Inner Growth Word of The Day 262 – Mask

September 19

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Mask

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 2 a. something that serves to conceal or disguise.

Mask in a sentence: Masks can serve different purposes to different people, only you know what your mask is concealing and why.

Mask in action: When you conceal something from others that is a mask.

Mask and inner growth: A closer look at your mask gets you to think about the things you are choosing to conceal from others and why, which can lead to inner growth as you manage those things that you conceal due to hurt.

Mask and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: When do I wear a mask? Why do I wear a mask?  What do my masks conceal from others?  How do masks affect my relationships?  What have I learned about myself through my masks?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with mask at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of one mask that you’ve recently noticed in yourself and write about it with the words from your list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about a mask you usually come across in your day-to-day, take note of where your emotions stem from and how they flow throughout you. As you do this pay close attention to your energy levels and if you feel some stagnant feelings visualize them flowing smoothly and releasing.  When you’re ready explore the mask more closely and notice if your feelings change and how they change.
