Inner Growth Word of the Day: Takeaway

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1. a conclusion to be made based on presented facts or information.

Takeaway in a sentence: When you find a takeaway from any situation, you end up enriching your person and your life with something valuable for the long-run.

Takeaway in action: Putting together a number of things that happened and deciding on what their deeper meaning is for your life that you can put into practice is a takeaway.

Takeaway and inner growth: Living a life that pursues inner growth involves bringing into the picture takeaways from events that happen in your life.  Through finding and exploring your takeaways you also bring about inner growth in yourself and in action in your life.

Takeaway and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: When did I experience my first big life takeaway? What was it?  How did it affect my life?  How do takeaways affect my relationships?  Why are my takeaways important to me?  Who has helped me to identify takeaways in my life?  What do I like the most about the takeaways I come across in life?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with takeaway at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. When reviewing the list what event comes to mind that holds an important takeaway for your inner growth?  Write about the event that you think about using the words from your list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about takeaway experiences in your life and focus on the emotions that flow through you. Notice where they start and where they go, and as you do this visualize the takeaways you’ve experienced.  As you relive those moments what do you notice most about the feelings that come by and do you see a constant variable between them?
