Inner Growth Word of the Day: Doubt

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (v.) 2. to call into question the truth of.  3 a. to lack confidence in.  3 b. to consider unlikely.

Doubt in a sentence: What doubt can tell you about yourself and a situation goes way beyond what you see at first.

Doubt in action: When uncertainty about someone or something takes place that is doubt.

Doubt and inner growth: Exploring your doubt in anything or anyone will always add to your inner growth path as it has you explore yourself in a situation, your fears, your needs, and a lot more that has to do with living life from within.  It starts with wanting full awareness of what is behind that initial feeling called doubt, how far you go and how much you find out depends on you.

Doubt and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What is doubt to me? When has and when does doubt play a role in my life?  How has doubt affected my life?  Why do I contemplate doubt?  Who has supported me in moments of doubt?  What is one of my biggest takeaways from moments of doubt?  When was the first time I experienced doubt?  What is one of the most important moments of doubt I’ve lived so far and what makes it so important?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with doubt at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of one situation where doubt helped you learn something very important about yourself.  Write about the experience and what you learned, as well as how it affected your life.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about doubt and try to pay attention to where they start and how they flow throughout your body. As you do this, visualize a beautiful calm stream or maybe the ocean’s sounds as the water comes to shore, whatever body of water that makes you feel most at ease and the sounds that sooth you.  When you’re ready allow thoughts to come in and notice how your feelings change both in the emotions that come by and how they flow.
