Surprise and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: When was the first time I experienced surprise? How do I deal with surprising moments? What types of surprising situations have I found myself in that helped me to get to where I am today? How has something surprising affected my life? In what ways does surprise affect my relationships? What role does surprising someone or something have in my life?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with surprise at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of three instances where surprise was a part of your experience and write about what you learned from these three different situations.
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about surprise and allow them to flow throughout you, taking notice of where the emotions begin and where they go. If you notice those emotions settling in one or more points of your body, visualize them moving smoothly and when you’re ready, bring in thoughts. Focus on the thoughts that cause the biggest emotional reaction and then allow those feelings to do the rest of the talking.
