Inner Growth Word of the Day: Easy

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (adj.) 1 a. causing or involving little difficulty or discomfort. 1 b. requiring or indicating little effort, thought, or reflection.  4 a. free from pain, annoyance, or anxiety.  4 b. marked by social ease.  4 c. easygoing.

Easy in a sentence: Something easy doesn’t mean the absence of in-depth thought or reflection.

Easy in action: When an action or situation comes without too much effort on your end, that is easy.

Easy and inner growth: Noticing traits and situations that come to you in a way that is easy compared to others can highlight the natural tendencies you hold, as well as the comfort zones that you are familiar with.  With awareness of this, you can dive into what resonates so much from these situations and comfort zones, as well as identify the potential limits you’re choosing to stay within and possibly choose if you’d like to explore outside those boundaries.

Easy and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What does easy mean to me? How has easy played a role in my life? What life lessons have I learned from things that came easy to me?  When did I first think about the idea of easy related to life?  When I think of behaviors that are easy to me, what stands out?  Do I think things should or shouldn’t be easy?  Do I judge easy?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with easy at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From this list pick three words that make you think about a specific life event where easy was involved.  Now use the rest of the words from your first list to write about this event and what stands out about it to you.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about easy and allow those emotions to flow throughout your body without putting much thought to it at first. Then slowly notice where your feelings are going or what they are and hone in on the one feeling that is a bit stronger and more present than the others.  With that feeling in mind, let your thoughts come in and notice what comes to mind first.
