Inner Growth Word of the Day: Peaceful


Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: 1. peaceable.  2. untroubled by conflict, agitation, or commotion.  3. of or relating to a state or time of peace.  4. devoid of violence or force.


Peaceful in a sentence: When you are peaceful within, you see the world and life in a whole different light no matter what happens.


Peaceful in action: When there is an absence of turmoil that is an indication of a peaceful feeling or situation.


Peaceful and inner growth: Taking an approach to life that looks to include peaceful feelings from within assists inner growth because to find a peaceful feeling one must first explore feelings of turmoil or conflict. As one explores the feelings of agitation this allows to uncover hidden thoughts and/or fears, which bring about answers to those thoughts and/or fears.  This exploration also allows for steps to be taken in order to overcome those troubled thoughts and/or fears.


Peaceful and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What does peaceful mean to me? How does it affect my life to look into ways to bring about peaceful feelings?  What are some of my biggest takeaways from moments where I feel peaceful?  How has a peaceful attitude affected my relationships?  When was the first time I thought about the idea of peaceful feelings?


  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with peaceful at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From this list pick one word that stands out from the bunch and think of a moment where you experienced something peaceful.  Next write about this moment with the words from your first list and also expand on why the one word made you think of this peaceful moment.


  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about peaceful and notice where the emotions that are flowing throughout you are coming from (from the heart or mind). As these emotions take over try to silence your mind for at least a couple minutes.  When the time is up, allow your thoughts to come by too; and focus on the one feeling that stands out the most with this thought.
