Inner Growth Word of the Day: Success
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 2 a. degree or measure of succeeding. 2 b. favorable or desired outcome.
Success in a sentence: In one way or another, everyone achieves some form of success for themselves.
Success in action: When you set an objective and your desired outcome is obtained that’s considered success.
Success and inner growth: To look at success and what it means to you, as well as acknowledging your successes can further inner growth by getting you to define success for yourself and giving recognition to the things you’ve been able to achieve so far.
Success and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: What do I think about success? Do I define my own success or do I let others define it for me? What successes have I achieved so far? Am I proud of the successes I’ve been able to obtain? How does success affect my life? What have I learned about life from success? How does success affect my relationships? What importance does success have for me?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with success at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. Next write down three successes you’re proud of and next to each place two of the words from your first list. From these three successes (along with the words you placed next to them) pick one of them and write about the success (what happened, how it affected you, what you learned from it, etc.).
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about success and allow it to take over. Sit quietly for about five minutes and let the emotions flow without getting distracted by outside noises or thoughts. When you’re ready allow a thought come in, the first thought that comes to mind. Focus on that thought and the feelings it brings about. Explore it as you let those emotions take over. Notice if something stands out about it.
