Inner Growth Word of The Day 60 – Self-completion

March 1

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Self-completion

No dictionary definition: If we take a look at the definitions of self and completion, we find that self means: a person’s essential being that distinguishes them from others, especially considered as the object of introspection or reflexive action. And completion means: the action or process of finishing something.  Put the two together and we’re talking about the action or process of finishing your essential being.

Self-completion in a sentence: Self-completion is a journey that can last a life time.

Self-completion in action: As we live life each day we work towards self-completion through the exploration of ourselves, our actions, thoughts, feelings, and do our best to reach a place where we truly know who we are and why (for us, not for others).

Self-completion and inner growth:  Even though one could think that self-completion and inner growth are one and the same, they are not necessarily. You can arrive at self-completion in knowing all about yourself and what makes you tick, but continue pursuing inner growth by going deep into the different parts of you and exploring the ins and outs of them.

Self-completion and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: Do I ever think about self-completion? Do I think I’ve arrived at self-completion?  What does self-completion mean to me?  How has the pursuit of self-completion affected my life?  How have I pursued self-completion?  Do I talk to others about self-completion?  Do I know of others who are on a similar self-completion journey as mine?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with self-completion at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. With the words you listed, now make a second list with all the components of you that you find are a part of your self-completion journey.  Next, pick one of the words from each list and write a story that allows them to play out in 24 hours.  What’s the story about and how does it end?

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about self-completion and allow the ideas that come to mind flow, trying to notice if there’s also a pattern in how you’re feeling about self-completion in each instance. Whatever stands out, make a note of and come back to explore.

Your turn – Share your self-completion sentence, life examples, and inner growth action steps; and let me know if you’d like to see something added to our Inner Growth Word of The Day explorations 🙂
