Inner Growth Word of The Day 34 – Dissatisfaction

February 3

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Dissatisfaction definition: (n.) 1. the state or attitude of not being satisfied; discontent; displeasure.  2. a particular cause or feeling of displeasure or disappointment.

Dissatisfaction in a sentence: Dissatisfaction can arise in circumstances that involve others or just us, it’s not the people that create the attitude as much as it is what we wanted as the outcome.

Dissatisfaction in action: When something we expect to happen doesn’t take place dissatisfaction sets in.

Dissatisfaction and inner growth: Dissatisfaction helps us with inner growth because it makes us face and explore what it is we really want and why by bringing about a feeling of disappointment and having a clear place for us to start from.

Dissatisfaction and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How does dissatisfaction play a role in my life? Is it a constant or does it arise in specific circumstances?  When was the last time a situation created a sense of dissatisfaction?  How did it affect me?  How did I resolve it?  When I think of myself does dissatisfaction ever cross my mind?  Or has it crossed my mind in the past?  Is there one thing that I think about that always brings about a sense of dissatisfaction?  Have I taken action to resolve that situation?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with dissatisfaction at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Is there a noticeable pattern of the types of words you used to describe dissatisfaction? If so, what does that tell you?

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about dissatisfaction and notice if those feelings are directed towards you or external factors. Explore your thoughts and feelings as you allow them to flow, but if it gets a bit tough stop and come back a second time around.

Your turn – Share your dissatisfaction sentence, life examples, and inner growth action steps; and let me know if you’d like to see something added to our Inner Growth Word of The Day explorations 🙂
