Inner Growth Word of the Day: Happiness
Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 2 a. a state of well-being and contentment: joy. 2 b. a pleasurable or satisfying experience.
Happiness in a sentence: The happiness that comes from the choices you make for your well-being is immeasurable.
Happiness in action: When you listen to your heart you are sure to know what experiences bring you happiness.
Happiness and inner growth: Making decisions that bring about happiness is the first step to inner growth because your focus is on choices for your well-being, the second step is understanding how you make those choices that this or that choice (experience, thing, etc.) is happiness for you.
Happiness and inner growth action steps:
- In-depth self-exploration questions: What is happiness to me? Where does my happiness stem from? How does the external world affect my happiness? Do things play a role in my happiness? How do I define happiness? What internal indicators tell me happiness is here? What’s one thing that if absent meant I could never have happiness?
- List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with happiness at the center and then list or put around it all the things that come to mind from your life associated with it. Next make a list of what happiness (in itself) means to you. Now write a story using only one of the words you listed that indicates happiness to you. What does your choice say to you? How about your story?
- Bring your awareness to your feelings about happiness and notice if there are any repetitive patterns to the things you think about as you’re feeling those feelings. If you notice a pattern of sorts, try to explore that pattern through your feelings and thoughts. See where it takes you and what you gather from the experience about your feelings about happiness.
