Inner Growth Word of the Day: Completion

Google’s Dictionary/Search definition: (n.) 1. the action or process of finishing something.

Completion in a sentence: Completion takes time, action and a defined objective or end result in mind.

Completion in action: When you’re determined to finish something, or complete a process, completion will most certainly take place.

Completion and inner growth:  There’s no certainty to there being completion for inner growth, but if it is an objective you decide to pursue, this will lead you on a path that involves day to day inner growth choices (since you’ll be in the process of trying to finish inner growth by having completion in mind).

Completion and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: Is completion something I actively pursue in my day to day or is it something I try to avoid? What types of feelings does the thought of completion provoke within me?  Do I have a hard time with the idea of finishing something or does it come naturally to me?  Do I judge the act of not completing something?  If yes, how so?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with completion at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Once you’ve compiled your list make a second list with one thing you’ve completed that made you happy and one thing that you didn’t complete that upsets you.  Then write out the process you took to complete the thing you did finish and write an alternate ending to the thing you didn’t complete that upset you as if you had completed it.  Once you’re done with the two compare them to see if you can identify possible reasons for why you didn’t complete one thing, but you did the other.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about completion. Understand if the idea of completion is something that makes you measure your worth or success or if it’s something you pursue because you want to, not because you have to.  If you have mixed feelings with completion explore them; they will lead you to understanding what isn’t in sync with you when it comes to completion and what is in sync with you.
