Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Different Ways To Break A Habit
Breaking habits is something that everyone deals with, and at times, in the moment, it can be a bit overwhelming seeing as some of the thoughts that cross one’s mind involve self-criticism for having the habit in the first place.
When applying an inner growth mindset in the moment, you stop the self-criticism thought and move towards love, inner exploration and finding solutions that work with you. Gaining knowledge of what can work best to take you one step forward, even baby steps, gets you to break a habit in a way that lasts forever.
Here are some ways to apply inner growth thought processes so that you can break a habit that’s holding you back.
- As soon as you become conscious of a habit you want to break apply three solutions you’re going to test to break it from that moment on. Every time the habit presents itself, switch your focus to one of the three solutions you opted for and if you find none of them work, create another solution to test until you are successful in your intent.
- Once a year look back at the recurring habits you’ve considered breaking and notice what strides you’ve made towards your objective. If you find you’re not where you want to be yet, look to other options you can try out in the year to come and remind yourself not to get stuck on the habit still being there or in negative self-talk.
- Every week take a look at the habits you love most about you and that enable you to feel you’re expressing your full potential. Keep those habits in mind so that you may bring them forth in moments where you’re feeling stuck.
