Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Old Habits Die Hard, But…

Tune in to the Inspiring Human Potential podcast on Anchor to hear more on the topic 😊

Releasing old habits requires things like patience, persistence and awareness of those habits in the moment (as they’re happening).  Your awareness in the moment needs to be neutral if you’re going to learn from your habit, as well as create a ‘new habit’.

When you’re in a non-judgmental mindset you recognize the habit, identify the reasons for that habit that are a part of you (your inner self and heart), and then choose what transformation you want to see and repeat that (new habit) in future moments, with awareness.

Here are some ways to work with yourself and old habits as you pursue inner growth and new habits.

  1. Identify on paper three old habits that you know you want to remove from your day-to-day. Write next to each the new habit and whenever you become aware of the ‘old habit’ taking place, remember what new habit you want to pursue and apply it.

  1. When you notice yourself judging yourself for an old habit, take a second to focus on your heart, and remember that it takes time to replace old habits. Then apply the new habit you want to pursue.

  1. Every time you feel like you’re not moving forward have a list of those new habits you have been able to put into place that resonate completely with your inner self and heart; and use them to renew your faith in yourself and that you can do this, you already are.

Your turn – Share your inner growth thought of the day, a sentence, life examples, or action steps you take with new beginnings 😊
