Inner Growth Thought of the Day: The Challenges With Letting Go
Letting go of the things that hold you back by the limits they create in the potential you can reach is challenging because these things can include beliefs and perspectives that are a part of who you are and how see yourself. Also, letting go, makes people think it means to have to eliminate these things completely to release them (to let go); but this isn’t the case.
When you realize that letting go doesn’t mean eliminating these parts of you, but instead simply being aware of them and releasing them from defining things as if they are able to solely reach that place that you are defining, you widen your view and let go.
Here are some ways to help you let go so that you can expand your potential along your inner growth journey.
- Write out your yearly goals/objectives (things you want to achieve) and make the list readily available. Pay attention to every thought you have regarding these goals/objectives as the year goes by and add the thoughts to your list. Whenever you notice a thought that creates limits, decide what you want to do about this (keep the limit or try to remove it).
- At the end of the day think of one judgement you made about yourself, a situation, or a person, and find the limit that judgement creates. Next decide if you’re going to work with yourself to remove the limit or if you can be completely happy with this limit in place.
- When you think about letting go of something notice what feelings arise and explore those feelings to find out how they came to be with that specific something.
