Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Learning From Vicious Cycles

There’s nothing vicious about cycles when you see things through that inner growth mindset that keeps you in learning mode and active pursuit of self-discovery; your essence and those deep-rooted parts of you that you can only uncover and understand as life happens and takes place (with the events that unfold).

 

When you notice a “vicious cycle” (aka “vicious circle”) in something related to your life or you personally, you have two options.  One of them to do some digging so that you can uncover those pieces to the cycle that cause a pattern of sorts, as well as look to ways for you to get over the hump that is bringing you to have repeat and accumulating incidents.

 

Here are some ways to go about investigating those “vicious cycles” so that you can break free from them once and for all.

 

  1. Deeper layers of ourselves means hiding things from our self (on a conscious level), but you can’t hide feelings; when a “vicious cycle” presents itself pay close attention to your feelings and describe each one (on paper).

 

  1. With the list of feelings at hand, go through one of them a day or once a week and think back to every time you’ve felt that feeling in your life. Next to each event, use an adjective to describe how you felt about yourself in that moment, what role you had in the event that took place.

 

  1. Next to the role you identify having in the events that happen to you, write down the feeling you get about that role; then ask yourself and answer, why you have that feeling about yourself and what does this mean in how you’re looking at yourself in that moment.
