Inner Growth Word of The Day 325 – Accusation

November 21

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Accusation

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1. a charge of wrongdoing.

Accusation in a sentence: An accusation is something you want to think about extensively before making it.

Accusation in action: Saying that someone is culpable of doing something is an accusation.

Accusation and inner growth: When you make or receive an accusation a lot of thought should go into it; for it is through those moments of thinking that inner growth takes place as you deal with feelings that arise from being accused and/or your motives for making such statements if you are the one making the accusations.

Accusation and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What does accusation represent to me? How does accusation make me feel?  When have I made accusations?  What situations or people have I made accusations about?  How have accusations affected my relationships?  How have accusations affected my life?  Why do I make accusations?  What types of situations have brought accusations on me by others? What were the accusations and how did I feel about them?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with accusation at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Now think of two life moments, one where you made an accusation and one where someone made an accusation of you.  Use the words in your list to write about these two life moments and take note of similarities and differences with the feelings that arise as you write about the situations.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about accusation and notice what feelings are the strongest, which ones are the weakest, and if there are neutral feelings in the mix too. Focus on how the emotions flow as you sit in silence and if any feelings settle in specific areas of your body focus on them and allow thoughts to come to mind.  Next take note of these thoughts and then come back to them one at a time to spot what emotions are unique to those thoughts.
