Inner Growth Word of The Day 312 – Gut feeling

November 8

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Gut feeling Dictionary definition: (n.) instinctive feeling, intuition; also called gut reaction.

Gut feeling in a sentence: Your gut feeling should never be ignored for it always has something very important to say.

Gut feeling in action: When you have a thought accompanied with a feeling on something that might happen, it’s like you already know where the situation is headed, that is gut feeling.

Gut feeling and inner growth: Tuning in more and more to your gut feeling and exploring it to its core brings about inner growth as you get better at identifying your instincts and separating from those instincts and intuitiveness, your insecurities and fears, which get you off track, but that are good to come to the surface so that you may resolve them and move forward.

Gut feeling and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: When did I first notice my gut feeling in a situation? How much attention do I pay to my gut feelings?  When did I start paying more attention to my gut feeling?  What have my gut feelings taught me about life?  How have my gut feelings affected my relationships?  One of my biggest takeaways from not listening to my gut feeling?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with gut feeling at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of the first time you paid attention to your gut feeling and it turned out to be right.  Describe and write about that day using the words from your list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about gut feelings and notice what thoughts come to mind, what specific situations, and in those thoughts how do your emotions change. As you make note of these feelings and thoughts, visualize a calm place where everything flows in harmony and finds its meaning.
