Inner Growth Word of The Day 297 – Goal

October 24

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Goal

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 2. the end toward which effort is directed.

Goal in a sentence: When you set a goal, you’ll do anything to achieve it depending on its true importance to you.

Goal in action: Deciding to reach a specific point, conclusion, situation; something you want to obtain and that you are going to try and pursue; that is a goal.

Goal and inner growth: A look at the goals you set, how you approach them, and how they make you feel bring inner growth as you identify your definitions of success, achievements, and important things to pursue in your life or that you think are important to you but aren’t really (once you identify those goals that you didn’t actively go after).

Goal and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: When did I set my first goal? What makes my goals so important to me?  How do my goals make me feel?  How do my goals affect my life?  How do my goals affect my relationships?  Why are goals significant to me?  How do my goals relate to who I am?  What part do my goals play in my idea of success?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with goal at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Now think of three goals that you set: a past goal, a present goal, and a future goal.  Write about each using the words from your list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about goals and notice the first emotion that stands out. Focus on that feeling and let it flow, paying close attention to how it flows and where it settles.  Next evenly distribute these feelings throughout by visualizing a flowing river and when you’re ready bring in thoughts of specific goals you have or had.  Notice how your feelings change based on what goal you’re thinking about.
