Inner Growth Word of the Day: Discuss

 

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (v.) 2 a. to investigate by reasoning or argument.  2 c. to talk about.

 

Discuss in a sentence: When you discuss something, you are not always aware of where you’re coming from in that moment; pausing to reflect can help to find that awareness.

 

Discuss in action: When you talk about something or are having a conversation where you outline an argument in favor or against something; that is to discuss.

 

Discuss and inner growth: Exploring the things you tend to discuss about brings inner growth as you find out the importance some things have for you and the depth you go to discover more about them through research and conversations.

 

Discuss and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How do I discuss? What do I discuss about?  When do I discuss? What are some of the takeaways I’ve had from the things I discuss?  Why do I discuss?  Who do I discuss most with?  How do my thoughts bring about the things I discuss?  When I discuss do I remove myself from the situation?  How does what I discuss about affect my life?

 

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with discuss at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From this list think of the three situations where the things you discussed made a huge impact in your life moving forward.  Write about one of these three situations using the words from your list.

 

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about when you discuss and let the emotions flow, notice where they start and where they go. As you focus on your emotions visualize a flowing river and allow thoughts to come in of specific scenarios where you discuss.  Notice which thoughts spark a change in your emotions and focus on the ones that are more persistent.
