Inner Growth Word of The Day 266 – Assistance

September 23

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Assistance

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) the act of helping or assisting someone or the help supplied.

Assistance in a sentence: Assistance is something everyone needs from time to time.

Assistance in action: When you need help or give help to someone for one reason or another, that is assistance.

Assistance and inner growth: Being able to ask for assistance and the times you’ve needed assistance are both worth pondering over as they help you explore your feelings and thoughts about vulnerability, as well as needing help. This gained awareness brings inner growth as you look to overcome, understand, accept and embrace those feelings along your exploration.

Assistance and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How do I feel when I ask for assistance? When was the first time I needed assistance and who helped me?  Why was asking for assistance such a big deal to me?  How do I react when someone asks me for assistance?  What are some of the biggest life lessons I’ve gained from asking or giving assistance?  How has giving or asking for assistance affected my relationships?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with assistance at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From this list write about one instance where you asked for assistance and one where you gave assistance to someone.  Write about these situations using the words from your list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about assistance and notice where they arise and where they go. As you do this, visualize a flowing river that is heading out to sea and when you’re ready allow thoughts to come in of moments where you asked for and gave assistance.  Take note of the situations that come to mind and focus on the ones that stand out.

Your turn – Share your assistance sentence, life examples, and inner growth action steps; and let me know if you’d like to see something added to our Inner Growth Word of The Day explorations 🙂
