Inner Growth Word of the Day: Neutral

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1. one that is neutral. / (adj.) 3 a. not decided or pronounced as to characteristics.

Neutral in a sentence: When you’re neutral about something, it doesn’t agitate you one way or the other.

Neutral in action: When there is a state of indifference or uninvoked feelings, thoughts, reactions to something or someone; that is neutral.

Neutral and inner growth: A place of neutral feelings is part of inner growth as a place where you can arrive through your journey as you get to really know yourself and have self-love, self-completion, self-drive, and so on; or also, as a place where you will find hidden hurts or thoughts that you can face to bring about inner growth (as you look into those neutral thoughts, behaviors, and reactions; and their not so neutral inner feelings).

Neutral and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What am I neutral about? How do I know it is a true state of neutrality for me from within (on an emotional level)?  How did I achieve neutral feelings or thoughts about things?  Can I be 100% neutral about something?  Are there things that I won’t ever be neutral about?  If so what are they and why can’t I ever be neutral about them?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with neutral at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. From this list pick the one word that stands out the most because of the neutral event that comes to mind when you read that word.  What life event did you think of?  Write about it using the rest of the words from your list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about neutral and notice how easily they flow. If there are blockages or places where your emotions settle, visualize them moving along and as you do this also accompany the visualization with a feeling of comfort, so think of something that brings about that specific warm feeling.  When you’re ready allow thoughts to come in and notice what type of neutral events come to mind, as well as how your emotional responses to each changes or stays the same.
