Inner Growth Word of The Day 173 – Leadership

June 22

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Leadership

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 2. capacity to lead.  3. the act or an instance of leading.

Leadership in a sentence: When good leadership is a part of the equation in the decision-making process, things get done and move along smoothly.

Leadership in action: When someone supports and encourages the best for themselves and for others leadership is present.

Leadership and inner growth: Leadership holds different meanings to different people, but when present it is always something that leads in a positive direction.  Exploring the areas you hold leadership in (for your life and for others) allows you to further that leadership, as well as apply it to areas where you see it lacking.  This brings to inner growth and allows you to further your own journey, as well as assist others in theirs.

Leadership and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What’s my definition of leadership? Where do I see leadership present within me?  How do I envision leadership in my life?  What have I learned from leadership?  How has leadership affected my relationships?  When was the first time I explored leadership and what brought me to explore it?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with leadership at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. Now list three instances where leadership was fundamental to the outcome of those events.  Pick one of the three events from your list of three and then write about it using the words from your first list.  Notice what stands out the most about this important moment in your life.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about leadership and allow them to flow throughout your body without focusing on any one emotion, just feel where the emotions go. As you do this visualize a flowing river and if you notice any feeling staying still in one area, move it along.  When you’re ready allow thoughts to come in too and focus on the one thought that stands out the most for the emotions that arise from it.  Let your feelings do the rest of the talking.
