Inner Growth Word of the Day: Liberating

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (v.) 1. to set at liberty (free).

Liberating in a sentence: When something is liberating it’s like taking off a heavy weight from your shoulders or sighing a sigh of relief.

Liberating in action: Setting something free can be both a physical action of freeing something or someone, as well as a feeling of freeing one’s self from, in either case it is liberating.

Liberating and inner growth: The things that are liberating for you are worth exploring as they give you a clear idea of the different things that weigh you down or cause a sense of imprisonment (so to speak).  Those “heavy” concerns and/or thoughts are what you become aware of and decide to accept or do something about, which consequently lead you to inner growth.

Liberating and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How does something liberating feel? What are the things that I worked on liberating myself from throughout the years?  When was the first time I thought about liberating myself from something or someone?  How has liberating myself from situations or people affected my relationships?  Why is liberating myself from the things that weigh me down important to me?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with liberating at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. Pick three words that stand out the most and for each think of a time when you liberated yourself from someone or something.  Use the rest of the words to write about one of these three events you thought of and at the end, also include why you picked that specific event to write about (what made it stand out compared to the other two).

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about liberating and allow those emotions to flow throughout the entirety of you. As you feel those feelings flowing, notice where they start and where they seem to go, is there an even distribution of your emotions throughout your body or do they come together in one or two specific areas.  As you do this, keep your thoughts silent and just feel.
