Inner Growth Word of the Day: Equilibrium

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) 1 a. a state of intellectual or emotional balance.  1 b. a state of adjustment between opposing or divergent influences or elements.  2. a state of balance between opposing forces or actions that is either static.

Equilibrium in a sentence: When you find equilibrium in life you find consistency and stamina.

Equilibrium in action: When balance is present in yourself and in things that is equilibrium.

Equilibrium and inner growth: Equilibrium is something that creates stability (whether for yourself or for something you’re doing) and in order to reach that stability you must first explore the instabilities.  Through this exploration you come full circle with things that are important in your life, but that also bring some instability.  All of this leads to inner growth in knowing more about yourself and taking actions to create equilibrium for yourself (internally and externally alike).

Equilibrium and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How do I feel about equilibrium? Have I reached equilibrium on some things and not others?  When did I start thinking about equilibrium applied in my life?  What are some things that stand out to me about equilibrium?  How has equilibrium affected my life?  In what ways has equilibrium transformed my relationships?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with equilibrium at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. From the list pick one word that reminds you of the first time you achieved equilibrium.  Use the rest of the words from your first list to write about this life moment.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about equilibrium and allow those feelings to flow without thinking much of anything. Focus on the emotions, where they’re going and what they’re saying to you.  After a bit, let thoughts flow in and focus on the thought that stands out the most.  Allow it to speak to you through the feelings it brings about.

Your turn – Share your equilibrium sentence, life examples, and inner growth action steps; and let me know if you’d like to see something added to our Inner Growth Word of The Day explorations 🙂
