Inner Growth Word of The Day 118 – Permanent

April 28

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Permanent

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (adj.) continuing or enduring without fundamental or marked change.

Permanent in a sentence: Something permanent lasts in time without ever changing.

Permanent in action: When something always stays the same it is permanent.

Permanent and inner growth: When you take a look at the permanent things in your life you gain insights into the things that are a constant for you.  This allows you to ponder why they are constants, which provides you with a deep look within.  This type of awareness brings about inner growth thanks to the added knowledge you have of yourself.  Also, if you look at your relationship with the idea of permanent, if it’s something you long for or can live without, this too gives you an area to explore of yourself.

Permanent and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: What does permanent mean to me? How do I feel about something that is permanent?  Do I seek permanent things?  What have I learned about life from the permanent things that I deal with on a daily basis?  How have my actions towards permanence affected my relationships?  Do I think permanent is applied to behavior?  How does permanent take place?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with permanent at the center and then list or put around it all the other words that come to mind associated with it. Now list three permanent things in your life.  From these three things pick one of them and from that one word, think of one permanent experience in your life.  Now write about this permanent thing by using the words from your first list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about permanent and let your emotions take over. Silent your mind and redirect your thoughts to what you’re feeling if you get distracted.  Once you gain full clarity through what you’re feeling, let thoughts come to mind.  Focus your mind on the first thought and allow it to speak to you through your feelings.
