Inner Growth Word of The Day 61 – Separateness

March 2

Inner Growth Word of the Day: Separateness

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition: (n.) the state of being alone or kept apart from others.

Separateness in a sentence: A feeling of separateness can bring about contemplation about one’s self and life.

Separateness in action: When you’re kept apart from others or feel as if you’re apart from them, separateness takes place.

Separateness and inner growth: Separateness brings about a mix of emotions, which tend to lead to deep thought.  It is in this moment that one turns to look inward and unlocks a series of questions and answers that can lead to inner growth.

Separateness and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How do I feel about separateness? What do I think about separateness? What actions have I taken when experiencing separateness?  What have I learned from my moments of separateness?  Do I think separateness is something everyone experiences?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with separateness at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Next list one to five times you’ve experienced separateness and pick one of those events to write out about using the words you put in your first list.

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about separateness and let them express themselves as much as you can without drifting off in thought. Focus on the feeling and tune out the thoughts for at least five minutes, if you can.  After a bit of just feeling, allow your thoughts to flow too.  Make a note of the thoughts that stand out the most for the feelings they bring about; especially, the ones that come to mind that arouse mixed feelings.

Your turn – Share your separateness sentence, life examples, and inner growth action steps; and let me know if you’d like to see something added to our Inner Growth Word of The Day explorations 🙂
