Inner Growth Word of the Day: Change

Google’s Dictionary/Search definition: (n.) 1. the act or instance of making or becoming different.

Change in a sentence: The changes that come with the passing of time are not always easy to understand.

Change in action: In time, changes take place that bring about something different from what we were once used to; whether that different is a person’s behavior, a situation, or thought process.

Change and inner growth:  How you feel about change is what sparks feelings and thoughts that tie in with inner growth.  Whether you search and welcome change or not, pondering those moments are what can lead you to uncover more about yourself and decide on matters regarding inner growth.

Change and inner growth action steps:

  1. In-depth self-exploration questions: How do I feel about change? Do I get agitated or relaxed or maybe both?  Why do I feel this way about change?  What are some great things that came about because of change?  Do I think I’ve changed?  Do I think change is good or bad?  Do I resist change or embrace it?  What have I learned about myself thanks to my reaction and interaction with change?  What advice would I share with the me from 1 year, 5 years, and 10 years ago?

  1. List or word bubble: Make a list or word bubble with change at the center and then list or put around it all the words that come to mind associated with it. Take note if the words you list express judgement of good or bad or mixed on change.  Now make a second list, but this time list two to ten things or thoughts or behaviors that have come about thanks to change (for you).

  1. Bring your awareness to your feelings about change and take note of the first feeling that comes to be. Allow that first feeling to come to life and express what it is you truly feel.  Once you’ve explored that feeling or if something else comes to mind, explore that next.
