Inner Growth Thought of the Day: Honoring Your True Self
Honoring your true self means knowing your true self, which you can do by exploring your inner core (heart, your essence), and ensuring it is in synergy with what you do day after day.
As you pursue inner growth you’re able to do that inner exploration, which enables you to gain the insights you need to know your inner core (the essence of you) in and out; and consequently, find harmony (balance) between your true self and what you do (job, personal relationships and life, decisions, etc.) by trial and error, thanks to being in a learning mindset with the events that come your way.
Here are some ways to honor your true self and explore it as life takes place.
- Any time you feel a disconnect between you and something that is present in your life (a job, a relationship, a decision, etc.), take some time to make a list of the feelings that you are experiencing with that something. Then substitute the “something” with another “something” that feels right for you. With that clarity you can now go about trying to integrate that substitute.
- Once a year make a note of the times you knew you were honoring your true self and write two to three things that stood out to you from those times. Next note some of the things you knew were not honoring your true self and write two to three things that stood out to you from these events. In the year to come try using what you learned to stay true to your true self.
- Start a list of two to three words that describe your true self (the essence of you) in your day-to-day. Add to the list daily or weekly and take a look at it from time to time to identify how you can do more of what represents your true self instead of the opposite.
Your turn – Share your inner growth thought of the day, a sentence, life examples, or action steps you take with new beginnings 😊
