Inner Growth Thought of the Day: The Power Of Now
The power of time is at our fingertips, it’s only a matter of putting in a bit of effort to stay in that now. Being present enables us to maintain awareness and therefore depth in everything we do; this way of trying to lead the day brings a lot of insights into the things we do, why we do them, and also slows down time.
The power of now isn’t about not keeping our past and present in awareness and our thoughts, but it is about trying to be actively grateful and present in the things you do as and the people you get to spend time with in the moment. It makes your day fuller and helps you to avoid taking life experiences and moments for granted.
Here are some ways that can help you stay in the now and use that time for your inner growth journey.
- Every time you notice in the day that you are not in the moment, take 2 minutes to actively think about what you are doing or feeling and notice how that changes your perspective and awareness in that moment.
- When you wake up and go to bed, take 5 minutes to appreciate the feelings you felt throughout that day and envision how it would have been to appreciate those feelings as you were experiencing them (in the now).
- Pay attention to your feelings and thoughts in the day, and try to turn your awareness to them as they take place when things are happening around you.
